PRADA was founded in 1913 by the Prada brothers in the elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. Previously they specialized in leather goods .

It was not until 1983 that a second Prada store was opened, in Via della Spiga in Milan. Miuccia Prada made a name for herself through her creative use of different fabrics and the simple, modern lines of her 1985 collection with shiny black handbags made of parachute nylon, which are still iconic today.
